Pinoy TV in the '70s

Although I was born in the '80s, I have always been wondering how Philippine television programs were like in the past. The following article by Ronald G. Mangubat is a personal narrative that provides insights into TV fare in the '70s. It was originally published in the Philippine Daily Inquirer on November 15, 1997.

  2. This just means actors back then would have to be more convincing since they lack all the techie special effects.

  5. All i know is that TV in the 70's or even the 80's are efforts and creativity to the highest level. I mean, without advanced technology at that time, its really amazing how people can get to create such shows with limited tools... They really made well-thought programs... not like some of the show nowadays that just rely on graphics to make it entertaining

  6. I always have this curiosity of how things were done back then especially in the field of showbiz! Good thing some of the networks now show then on free tv again :)

  7. I'm not interested about how our entertainment industry was before. I don't like watching classic black and white films but sometimes looking back makes us realize that there are still gems to get inspirations from, in the past.

  9. I'm a child of the 80s even if I was technically a teen in the 90s. One precious gem the 70s gave me though was Star Trek. I still watch Captain Kirk in his mustard shirt and obviously fake ship :)
