Prayle (Friar): A Poem

In the October 7, 1997 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, a poem in written in Tagalog was published as a paid advertisement. The poem's title Prayle (Friar in English) attacks members of the clergy who seem to be very fond of meddling in Philippine politics.

  5. Same old story, hanggang ngayon ang mga prayle ,nangengelam pa rin sa politika at sa gobyerno

  6. Wala na ngang separation ng church at state dahil pati gobyerno pinakikialaman ng simbahan.

  8. I can bravely say - totoo ito! Nangyayari parin ito sa ating lipunan.

  11. I don't get it why the church always meddle with the things that has to do with the state while were already in the 21st century.

  12. This is still an obvious truth -- They may not be called Friars now, but they still exist in our churches today. I just hope that these 'believers of God' would actually do what they preach, and not be so hypocritical.

  13. There will always be bad elements in every sector of society. Bad ways are never really gone, they just reinvent themselves.

  14. true true. until today.. yup.. hahahaha.. influencers... some big names in their sectors are seen more on rich and elite parties than doing outreach and serving the helpless... :-)

  15. Friars are still here. They are here to stay whether we like it or not. They are just reinventing the wheel trying to blend up with the society.

  20. this is #1 reason why I hate politics. and unfortunately it affected my faith. I don't attend mass anymore simply because I don't look at priest the same way as before, I hate it when I hear them preach tapos puros politics naman topic or gumagawa din naman ng mali... ;(
