Price List: Seafood, Meat, and Poultry at South Supermarket

South Supermarket in Malolos, Bulacan offers fresh meat and seafood at affordable prices. If you buy these products at this supermarket, services such as cleaning and cutting are also provided for free. Yesterday, we purchased bought a kilogram of fresh red lapu-lapu there:

Movie Ads: "Ikaw Lang" (1993)

On January 12, 1993, a movie having the same title as the Chad Borja hit song Ikaw Lang was shown in theaters. Under the direction of Chito Rono, Ikaw Lang stars Vilma Santos, Ronnie Ricketts,  Cesar Montano. Other cast members include Janine Barredo, Dencio Padilla, Zeny Zabala, and Vangie Labalan.

The film was shot in many towns in Bulacan, mainly Malolos and Paombong. This is a newspaper advertisement for the film:

* Vilma Santos is now the provincial governor of Batangas. She was elected in 2007 and 2010, each for a three-year term. The recent blockbuster film The Healing, marked  Santos' fiftieth year in show business.

* Ronnie Ricketts is now the chairman of Optical Media Board, an anti-piracy agency of the Philippine government.

* Cesar Montano eventually starred in many critically-acclaimed films, including Jose Rizal in 1998.  He is now a host of the reality-based talent search Artista Academy on TV5.

Inside a Bus and a Barbershop on Sunday

Sundays are each week is a day most Filipinos look forward to: It is a day to relax and recharge for the coming workload for the new week.  Earlier today, I was able to see how does the inside of the Victory Liner bus looks like in a Sunday:

Sundays are also good times to get a haircut. The following picture was taken inside Society Barbershop one of the oldest (since 1965) and most popular barbershops in the city of Malolos, Bulacan.  Getting a haircut in this barbershop is friendly to the pocket. The barbers are also friendly for you can discuss with them any topic under the sun:

In commemoration of the 114^th anniversary of the independence of the Philippine Republic today, I will share some pictures of a prominent historical site in the City of Malolos in the province of Bulacan, the Basilica Minore of Immaculate Conception, more popularly known as the Malolos Cathedral.

The cathedral (then known as the Malolos Church) served as the Presidential Palace of President Emilio Aguinaldo during the First Philippine Republic from September 15,1898 to March 31,1899.  The convent of the church was used by Aguinaldo as his Office.

Barasoain Church: Cradle of the Republic

The 114^th anniversary of the independence of the Philippine Republic is being celebrated today. Considering that Malolos was the seat of this Republic, I will be sharing some pictures of the historical shrine Barasoain Church.

The First Philippine Congress convened there on September 15, 1898.  The church also saw the drafting of the Malolos Constitution from September 29, 1898 to January 21, 1899.  The First Philippine Republic was inaugurated there on January 23, 1899. Barasoain Church was declared a National Shrine by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 260 on August 1, 1973.
